Adopt-a-Grave

Save Austin's Cemeteries is working with the City of Austin Cemeteries Division Conservator to launch a new program this fall to fund the restoration of selected monuments in Oakwood Cemetery. Gravestones in Oakwood are property of the family; however, many of our most historic plots have no family willing or able to make repairs. Visitors will be able to contribute to the repair work of selected monuments.

Ryan Dees and Caitlen Hill of the Cemeteries Division will mark the proposed graves with a temporary sign and QR code for donations—which Save Austin’s Cemeteries will collect and administer.

Our first restoration will be Susan Hancock’s grave.
